This course, “AI in the Workplace,” is designed to introduce non native English speakers to the fundamental concepts and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various professional settings. Over five days, participants will explore the basics of AI, different AI technologies, their applications across industries, ethical considerations, and future trends. The course integrates language learning with content knowledge, ensuring participants not only understand AI but also improve their English language skills through targeted activities and exercises.

All trainees need to bring a laptop or tablet to all sessions with a mouse and charger. Students bringing company devices must make sure that they have administrative permission in order to download the software that is an essential part of this course.

Day 1: Introduction to AI
Content Objectives:

  • Understand the basic concepts of AI.
  • Identify examples of AI in daily life and the workplace.

Language Objectives:

  • Learn and use vocabulary related to AI (e.g., algorithm, machine learning, automation).
  • Practice simple present tense to describe AI functions.

Activities:

  1. Warm-up Discussion: What do you know about AI? (Pair work)
  2. Presentation: Basic concepts of AI with visuals and simple explanations.
  3. Vocabulary Matching: Match AI terms with their definitions.
  4. Reading Comprehension: Short text on AI applications in the workplace.
  5. Group Activity: Identify AI examples in a given scenario.

Day 2: AI Technologies
Content Objectives:

  • Explore different AI technologies (e.g., chatbots, virtual assistants, predictive analytics).

Language Objectives:

  • Use comparative and superlative forms to compare AI technologies.
  • Practice listening skills through video content.

Activities:

  1. Review: Recap of Day 1 concepts.
  2. Video: Watch a short video on AI technologies.
  3. Listening Comprehension: Answer questions based on the video.
  4. Comparative Exercise: Compare AI technologies using provided data.
  5. Role-Play: Simulate a conversation with a virtual assistant.

Day 3: AI in Different Industries
Content Objectives:

  • Understand how AI is used in various industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, retail).

Language Objectives:

  • Practice using the past simple tense to describe AI developments.
  • Enhance reading skills with industry-specific texts.

Activities:

  1. Warm-up Discussion: How is AI changing different industries?

Day 5: Future of AI and Course Review
