Course

The English as a medium of instruction for HE lecturers course is designed to assist educators who work in tertiary level education and deliver their subject in English. The course will provide an overview of EMI and explore some of the concepts surrounding its main principles. You will participate in and analyze a demonstration lesson before implementing these principles into some of your own materials. You will work on some lesson materials personalized to your own teaching context which will be presented at the end of the week.

For lecturers working in tertiary level education who deliver their subject in English, or who are interested in delivering their subject in English.

25 hours course runs for 5 days, consisting of seminars, workshop and cultural activity hours.

Timetable: 09:00 – 12:30 13:30 – 15:00.

CONTENT:

• To explore the key considerations when delivering your subject in English
• To allow participants to analyse an example of these principles in practice
•  To give participants opportunities to experiment with how to implement these concepts into their own teaching practice
• To allow peer and tutor feedback on materials created

OUTCOMES AND IMPACT:

This course provides a professional development opportunity for participants which aims to enhance their approach to delivering content in English. Through inbuilt dissemination activities, participants are invited to share knowledge and skills acquired with their colleagues. The opportunity to experience new cultural contexts and network with international colleagues is a further positive outcome

Participants: For teachers working in Higher Education delivering their subject in English, or who are interested in delivering their subject in English.
